Donald H. Thain




























Donald H. Thain was a professor at the Richard Ivey School of Business for 38 years. During that time he came to be recognized as one of Canada’s pre-eminent management teachers, thinkers and writers. In 1998, he and former Ivey colleague David S.R.Leighton co-authored Making Boards Work: What Directors Must Do to Make Canadian Boards Effective (McGraw-Hill Ryerson). Professor Thain, a corporate director and former chair, has served on 16 boards and consulted for many companies on governance problems. In this article, he offers his views on the state of corporate governance practices in Canada, particularly at Nortel.
