Atrisha Sarkar is an Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Western University whose work focuses on safer, more human-centred AI systems. She earned her PhD in Computer Science from the University of Waterloo and contributed to Autonomoose, one of Canada’s first self-driving cars. She later held roles at the University of Toronto’s Schwartz Reisman Institute and the Vector Institute. Before academia, she spent eight years in industry, at IBM Software Labs. Her research spans multiagent systems, behavioural game theory, and AI safety, with applications in autonomous vehicles, online polarization, and human-AI interaction.
